Ode to a Villa Owner on the Brink of a Holiday
For a month we lived in Florida Delight,
Where the to‑do list grew both day and night.
Two bedrooms transformed with magical flair—
Mickey Mouse grinning here, Hogwarts floating there.
The bannister gleams with its fresh coat of white,
A staircase now worthy of Instagram light.
The settee covers marched to the washer in line,
Scrubbed, rinsed, and Scotch‑guarded—oh, didn’t they shine.
Outside, the rattan put up quite a fight,
Hours spent threading it just to sit right.
(Who knew that furniture could test your soul
More than a wand or a mouse‑eared bowl?)
And the “other jobs” list—too long to recite,
But each one completed with stubborn delight.
Because owners know, with a mix of pride and fear,
Guests notice everything the moment they’re here.
Now suitcases wait for the flight back home,
Where kettles and duvets and normal life roam.
We’re tired, we’re achy, but goodness—what bliss,
To leave knowing guests will walk into this.
So here’s to the graft, the sweat, and the fight,
To keeping the magic in Florida Delight.
A well‑earned rest is calling our name—
But we’ll be back again… to do it all the same.
